The East Valley Area

The East Valley has experienced extensive growth in its freeway system over the past two decades. Current and future freeway projects include High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lane construction on SR 51 (Piestewa Freeway) as well as freeway widening for HOV and general purpose lanes on the Loop 101 and Loop 202.

In summer 2008, construction of the Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) was completed in its entirety resulting in the last key connection within the East Valley. Only one new freeway, the State Route 802 (Williams Gateway Freeway), is currently under study in the East Valley. Additionally, our transit partners are working to add new light rail, park and ride lots and bus rapid transit services.

Mission Statement

ADOT is working with local communities and transit partners to implement comprehensive and broad-based communication programs as transportation projects and services develop within the East Valley. Together, we are working to construct the voter-approved projects as quickly as possible and to complete a transportation network that will improve mobility and travel options in the East Valley.
