Several projects to improve freeway capacity, traffic flow and access on Interstate 10 are currently under way or planned.

Widening Projects

I-10, Loop 101 – Interstate 17
Description:    Add new general purpose lanes
Schedule: This project is currently in the planning phase. Construction is currently identified in Phase II (2011-2015) of the Regional Transportation Plan (RTP).
   
I-10, Sarival Avenue – Loop 101
Description:    Add one general purpose lane and one HOV lane in each direction, with widening occurring into the median. The project will result in a total of five lanes in each direction between Dysart Road and Loop 101, and four lanes in each direction between Sarival Avenue and Dysart Road.
Schedule: New lanes were opened to traffic in early 2010. All work on the project was completed in spring 2010.
   
I-10, Sarival Avenue – Dysart Road
Description:    Add one general purpose lane and one auxiliary (merge) lane in each direction, with widening occurring to the outside of the freeway. Two additional lanes will also be added to the freeway median along this segment of I-10 as part of the Loop 101 to Sarival Avenue widening project. The project will result in a total of five lanes in each direction.
Schedule: Construction began in late 2009 and is scheduled to be completed by late spring/early summer 2011.
   
I-10, Citrus Road – Sarival Avenue
Description:    Construct I-10 improvements needed to build the future Loop 303 freeway interchange with I-10.
Schedule: Design of the improvements is currently being completed as part of the design of the Loop 303/I-10 interchange. The Loop 303 interchange is scheduled to be constructed beginning in spring 2011.
   
I-10, Verrado Way – Sarival Avenue
Description:    Add one general purpose lane in each direction, with widening occurring into the median. The project will result in a total of three lanes in each direction.
Schedule: Construction is in progress and is scheduled to be completed in spring 2011.
 
I-10, State Route 85 – Verrado Way
Description:    Add one general purpose lane in each direction, with widening occurring into the median. The proposed project would result in a total of three lanes in each direction.
Schedule: Construction is scheduled in a later phase of the RTP as funding becomes available.

 

Interchange Projects

Bullard Avenue
Construction of a new interchange at Bullard Avenue has been completed.

El Mirage Road
A new interchange at El Mirage Road is currently identified in Phase IV (2021-2015) of the Regional Transportation Plan.

Perryville Road
A new interchange project is planned at Perryville Road. Planning for this project is currently on hold pending a study related to a potential parkway project on Perryville Road and its connection to I-10.
