A clear
perspective on freeway route
Ahwatukee Foothills News Dear Editor: Let's make some facts clear on the Pecos 202. 1) It's been on the planning books for almost 20
years. Twenty years. There should be absolutely no sympathy for those that
lacked the common sense to realize this. None. When I shopped for my home in
Club West, I specifically shopped at least a mile from the planned freeway. The
cheaper houses along Pecos were tempting, but I had foresight. 2) Even if it wasn't planned for 20 years, it's only a
matter of time before it becomes essential. If population projections come to be
even half true, the Broadway curve on Interstate 10 will only become
increasingly hopelessly bottlenecked. You think it's bad now? Something's going
to have to give. Simply because a small yet vocal group of people
living along the Pecos Road corridor made poor purchase decisions does not mean
that we should stop a clearly needed and long-planned step forward. As the old
saying goes: "Lack of planning on their part doesn't constitute an
emergency on our part." Andy Krals |
