Background

State Route 74 is, primarily, a two lane highway that extends more than 30 miles, connecting US 60 (Grand Avenue) near Morristown with Interstate 17 (Black Canyon Freeway) in north Phoenix. SR 74 passes through the cities of Peoria and Phoenix, as well as unincorporated Maricopa County north of Surprise. The highway provides primary access to Lake Pleasant Regional Park and Arizona Game and Fish Department’s Ben Avery Sport Shooting Facility. East of I-17, SR 74 becomes the Carefree Highway, an arterial street controlled by local jurisdictions.  More . . .
