Study Planning - Detailed Project Overview

The goal of the planning stage is to establish the projects feasibility. Feasibility is studied from both an engineering and environmental perspective. Both studies are conducted simultaneously and collaberatively. The planning stage establishes the general location and basic characteristics (number of lanes, interchanges, etc.) of a roadway. Accompanying this are environmental studies (noise, etc.), identification and evaluation of alternatives, general cost estimates, and the determination of feasibility to move to the design phase.

Studies

The engineering studies evaluate each possible alternative and narrow the choices to a final selection. Visit the Engineering Studies page for a detail description of this study.

Developed in conjunction with the engineering studies, the environmental studies evaluate the study area and the proposed alignment alternatives. A detailed description of the environmental studies are also available.

• Draft Environmental Assessment – Fall 2008
• Public Hearing - Early 2010
• Final Environmental Assessment - Spring 2010
• Environmental Determination – Summer 2010
