Final Environmental Assessment and Section 4(f) Evaluation

The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT), in coordination with the Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG), evaluated improvements to State Route 85 (SR 85) between Watermelon Road and I-8. The Federal Highway Administration and ADOT have coordinated with the Town of Gila Bend, other local, state, and federal agencies and the community to determine the best location for the alignment of SR 85 and its connection with I-8. A Draft Environmental Assessment (DEA) was prepared and signed by FHWA September 4, 2009. The Final Environmental Assessment and Section 4(f) Evaluation (FEA) documents the environmental impacts and mitigation measures for the improvements on SR 85 at Gila Bend, Arizona. The FEA was approved by FHWA (with a statement of a Finding of No Significant Impact) on February 18, 2010. This FEA document was prepared as an addendum, and is to be used in combination with the Draft Environmental Assessment (DEA).
