Construction will begin in mid-January 2011 and is anticipated to be completed in summer 2012. Travel impacts include lane restrictions and closures to both SR 143 and adjacent on- and off-ramps. Construction activity may occur 24-hours per day, seven days per week, and detours may be put into effect that will impact access in and out of Sky Harbor International Airport.

The process of constructing improvements on State Route 143 (Hohokam Expressway) require traffic restrictions to freeway lanes, on and off-ramps, as well as additional restrictions to surface streets. Daytime and nighttime construction activities are expected throughout the project.

Outreach to businesses, agencies, and the traveling public continues throughout the design and construction phases. Public comment and input are encouraged and can be submitted via the website (www.valleyfreeways.com), 24-hour hotline, customer service line and project email. Project representatives are available to answer project-related questions throughout construction. Please contact the Public Involvement & Partnering Outreach Team at valleyfreeways@azdot.gov or 602.712.7355.
