SR
87 (Duthie-Martin Highway) is a state highway that starts
in the Phoenix Metropolitan Area and heads north into Gila
County. There are a large volume of recreational travelers
and tourists that use SR 87 to travel to Arizona Rim Country
and to nearby lakes and recreation areas.
SR 87 (Duthie-Martin Highway) – New Four Peaks Road to Dos S Ranch Road Reconstruction and Erosion Control Project
ADOT will soon begin a reconstruction/widening and erosion control project on SR 87 between mileposts 204.3 and 213.0, approximately halfway between metro Phoenix and Payson. The project is designed to improve traffic flow by widening the roadway, repairing slopes and ditches, reinforcing embankments, and implementing modifications to meet state and federal standards.

The timeline represents the required

of required planning and environmental studies before a roadway
is constructed.

There are no current studies on SR 87 (Duthie-Martin Highway).

The project is anticipated to begin September 7, 2010 and is expected to be completed by July 2011.
The following project will require traffic restrictions on SR 87. Northbound SR 87 will be used as a two-way detour during construction on the southbound lanes. Daytime and nighttime construction activities are expected. Motorists may experience slowing and traffic delays, including temporary closures.
